September Newsletter

Welcome to first grade!  I am looking forward to the many adventures this year will bring. I am especially excited to work with you and your child. Please feel free to call or e-mail me if you have any questions or concerns throughout the year.  By working together, we can make this a year of growth,  achievement, and success for your child. We are still working on rules and routines during this first month together.  There is a great deal of time spent on reviewing skills and expectations!
Our school-wide rules are --
  • Be Respectful
  • Be Responsible
  • Be Safe
  • Be a Professional Student

In addition, our classroom rules are —·       I can follow directions the first time!
·       I can keep my hand and my feet to myself!
·       I can stay on task!
HomeworkMath, science, and/or word work homework will be sent home every MONDAY. This is meant to be practice of the skills previously taught. Your child should be able to complete the homework independently.Homework is given to students to practice the skills that we have learned in class. Please turn homework in on Friday.Reading at home is essential for the reading success of your child. Students will be given a reading log every week. First graders are asked to read, or be read to, for 20 minutes a night.
Backpacks

Your child needs to bring a backpack everyday! Please make sure it is large enough to hold the Homework Folder.  Bus riders should also have their BUS TAGS attached to their backpacks at all time.
