February Newsletter

I can hardly believe that it is already February!  The days, weeks and months have been zooming by since the start of the school year in August!  We are almost to the 100^th day of school!

The rest of the year will go by just as quickly as the past 5 months! As we start to turn our focus onto how we’d like to finish the year off strong, start preparing yourselves for the pace to pick up just a bit.  There is still a lot to cover in first grade!  Make sure your children are getting a good night’s rest so they are ready for the days ahead!

This month, we are focused on friendship, and how to be kind and caring to those around us!

Concordia Bookmarks!

Concordia University recently held a bookmark design contest for student K-8.  Our classroom had THREE students who were recognized either for honorable mention, or first place!!!! 

Congratulations to Lucca Karjalainen, Shanell McMillian and Judah Gunderson!!!  We are all so proud of your hard work!!!

Friendship Celebration

We will be participating in the Friendship Dance from 1:05pm-1:35pm. Following the dance, we will pass out our Valentine’s cards and read them. Students are welcome to bring Valentine’s Cards. If your student chooses to bring Valentine’s, they must bring one for every student in the class. A list of names in on the back of this newsletter.  Please have your student practice writing and reading the names while you goJ Please feel free to send them to school on any day this week.  Parents/guardians are welcome to join us for the Friendship dance at 1:05pm and/or the card reading celebration at 1:45pm.

Telling Time

Please encourage your student to practice telling time to the hour and half hour at home. We will be sending home paper clocks for students to practice at home.
