How-To: Informational Writing
This month we are focusing on informational
writing. We will start by making an informational picture book. Students will
become experts and describe the steps of how to be successful in their area of
expertise. We will also utilize transitional words: first, next, then, last,
finally, etc.
Math
Focus: Geometry
We
are starting a unit on geometry this month. Students will be using polydrons,
pattern blocks, geoboards, and paper shapes to explore a number of 2- and
3-dimensional shapes. Here are some goals of this unit:
· Recognize and name shapes
· Describe shape properties
(sides, angles, symmetry)
· Figures retain their shape
even when they are flipped, rotated, or slid.
