This year is going
SO well!!! We are working hard in class each day, and
I can already see so much growth in their
abilities! I have to say THANK YOU to
all of the families in my
classroom. I can tell that it’s the hard work you are doing at
home that is making a difference! Please let me know if
there is anything I can do to help at home in
anyway! Please get in touch with me about any questions
you might have. I strongly feel that the
communication between teacher and families can make-or-break a
school year. I want to make sure you can always be
part of what is going on in our classroom! Please visit my staff page on the Faubion Website often! There you will find a link to our classroom blog! I’ll try and update it 2-3 times a week!
This month at a
glance……..
11/18 - Muffins with McCalley at 8:45 A.M. - 9:45 A.M.
11/18 - Dollar Days
11/23 & 11/25 - No School - Thanksgiving Break
Rainbow Words
Soon your child will be given a list of
words to read and spell. The words come
from the first grade sight word list.
These words need to be practiced every night along with the reading log
and optional homework calendars. Through repeated exposure and practice of the
words, your child should be able to say/spell each word as soon as he/she sees/hears
it, without hesitation. The repetition
of these words will increase reading fluency and accelerate reading levels.
Star of the Week
Our class will be starting a fun
new activity at the end of the week. We all want to get to know each other even
better, and so I will select one student a week (at random) to be the Star of
the Week! This student will be asked to
share more about their lives at home by bringing special things to share with
the class.
Field Trip
I
am in the process of planning this years class field trips! I have a few ideas that are in the
works. If you are interesting in
volunteering for a field trip this year, please make sure you have done a PPS
background check. https://apps.pps.net/volunteermanagement/
Raz Kids
A HUGE THANK YOU to all of our
families for contributing to RAZ KIDS.
Don’t forget that you can also login from home. If you are having any trouble getting into
the site, please let me know. This is a
wonderful resource to use to keep reading fun and exciting at home and at
school!
Happy reading!
